Descripción editorial
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A stunning “portrait of the enduring grace of friendship” (NPR) about the families we are born into, and those that we make for ourselves. A masterful depiction of love in the twenty-first century.
NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FINALIST • MAN BOOKER PRIZE FINALIST • WINNER OF THE KIRKUS PRIZE
A Little Life follows four college classmates—broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition—as they move to New York in search of fame and fortune. While their relationships, which are tinged by addiction, success, and pride, deepen over the decades, the men are held together by their devotion to the brilliant, enigmatic Jude, a man scarred by an unspeakable childhood trauma. A hymn to brotherly bonds and a masterful depiction of love in the twenty-first century, Hanya Yanagihara’s stunning novel is about the families we are born into, and those that we make for ourselves.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Yanagihara follows her 2013 debut novel, The People in the Trees, with an epic American tragedy. The story begins with four college friends moving to New York City to begin their careers: architect Malcolm, artist JB, actor Willem, and lawyer Jude. Early on, their concerns are money and job related as they try to find footholds in their respective fields. Over the course of the book, which spans three decades, we witness their highs and lows as they face addiction, deception, and abuse, and their relationships falter and strengthen. The focus narrows as the story unspools and really, this is Jude's story. Unlike his friends, who have largely ordinary lives, Jude has a horrific trauma in his past, and his inner demons are central to the story. Throughout the years, Jude struggles to keep his terrible childhood secret and to trust those who love him. He cuts himself and contemplates suicide, even as his career flourishes and his friends support him. This is a novel that values the everyday over the extraordinary, the push and pull of human relationships and the book's effect is cumulative. There is real pleasure in following characters over such a long period, as they react to setbacks and successes, and, in some cases, change. By the time the characters reach their 50s and the story arrives at its moving conclusion, readers will be attached and find them very hard to forget.

Real, Heartbreaking, wonderful, wreaking.
Omg! The sickest, saddest, real, but in the same way wonderful.
I finished reading this book, because of a YouTube recommendation, had my doubts in the beginning, but as I read more and more, I started understanding all the comments I read before.
Try to read it with an open mind, its really easy to give a point of view from a privilege place.
I think this book is a reality, this are situations that people do live an experience all around the world, there are sick people and bad people, who damage other human beings without thinking the result and the harm for their whole life not only physically but emotionally, psychologically which is the worst.
Jude, Willem, Jb and Malcolm will be some days on my mind.
Simply beautiful
So far I have read about 50 books in my life I believe, about 100 if you count the ones when you’re studying.
I have read about many people, so many personalities, so many stories, and I will keep reading, learning about new places and people, but I can tell you confidently, that no book I have read, nor I will ever read comes close to what I have experienced with “A little life”, It might have been personal experiences, it might have been their wonderful characters, or the way the book is written, I cannot say for sure, nevertheless if there is one thing I can recommend you in this life will be to read this book, enjoy it, smile, cry with it, but read it because it truly means a lot and I think it leaves you with incredible perspectives of life once you finish it. I am proud to say I read this book and tho it took me a minute to read it(some chapters were harder to get through than others), god have I enjoyed every minute I invested in this book. I am wildly passionate about it and it might take me a while to read it again for sure, I am big fan of revisiting old stories, but when I do I will do so with a gentile smile. I know what this is about I, know how it ends, its pages are burned in my brain forever and yet I will read it gladly again that’s for sure!.
Again I dont know if I’ll ever encounter a book like this in the future but right now in my present, I am glad I did. Give yourself a chance to not only read it but to feel this book completely for what it is. Please, you WON’T REGRET IT. At all.
I’m sure of it.
A little life
